Xbox is hinting at an exciting array of new first-party games that are still under wraps. Rumors are swirling that some of these titles might be unveiled during their big showcase in June.
In a recent episode of Xbox’s official podcast, Craig Duncan, the head of Xbox Game Studios, shed some light on the upcoming releases. With titles like “South of Midnight” and “Doom: The Dark Ages” on the horizon, the future looks bright. However, fans will have to wait a bit longer for Playground Games’ Fable reboot, now slated for a 2026 launch.
It’s clear that Xbox’s studios are on a roll. Following the successful release of “Indiana Jones and the Great Circle” at the end of 2024, the lineup for 2025 is shaping up to be even more impressive. Just last week, Obsidian’s “Avowed” hit the shelves to positive reviews. There’s also a lot of buzz around Compulsion Games’ “South of Midnight” due in April, and “Doom: The Dark Ages,” expected in May. Later this year, players are also anticipating Obsidian’s “The Outer Worlds 2.” Beyond 2025, titles like the “Perfect Dark” reboot, the BioShock-inspired “Clockwork Revolution,” “Gears of War: E-Day,” and Fable are all on the docket.
In the podcast, Duncan acknowledged the Fable delay but reassured fans that there’s still plenty to be excited about. He mentioned, “We’ve got a bunch of stuff we haven’t announced, so obviously I spend a bunch of time with that…but yeah, we have lots going on.” This hints at more surprises waiting in the wings.
Several studios might soon reveal their next big projects. It’s been a while since Double Fine released “Psychonauts 2,” so fans are curious about what Tim Schafer and his talented team have been working on. Ninja Theory could also be close to announcing their next title. Obsidian, known for their nimble development, might surprise us again with a passion project akin to “Grounded” or “Pentiment.” Meanwhile, fans are eagerly awaiting anything new from the recently rebranded Halo Studios or perhaps a fresh look from Playground’s Forza team. Beyond these names are the Bethesda and Activision Blizzard teams, who could have exciting announcements in store.
As anticipation builds, the gaming community eagerly awaits Xbox’s June showcase. It’s expected that new first-party games will be revealed, capturing the attention of gamers around the globe. Xbox aims to outdo last year’s impressive lineup, leaving fans with high expectations.
