Take-Two Interactive is gearing up to potentially lend its support to the Nintendo Switch 2. While they’re not spilling all the beans just yet, their interest has been openly expressed.
The company has been a strong ally to the original Switch with a slew of popular titles under its belt. Fans of the portable console have enjoyed hits like BioShock: The Collection, Borderlands Legendary Collection, XCOM 2 Collection, and the polished Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition. It’s not just older hits, though; new games like New Tales from the Borderlands, LEGO 2K Drive, and the latest NBA 2K25 alongside Sid Meier’s Civilization VII are also part of their impressive lineup.
Talking during a Q3 2025 earnings call, Take-Two Interactive’s CEO, Strauss Zelnick, reflected on the evolving relationship with Nintendo. He pointed out that the partnership has grown beyond just targeting younger gamers. “Historically, Nintendo platforms sought a younger demographic, and you saw that in our past releases,” Zelnick noted. “But now, with the Nintendo Switch and potentially the Switch 2, we’re seeing a device that truly caters to every audience. Sid Meier’s Civilization VII coming to the Switch is a testament to that shift. While specifics aren’t out yet, it’s fair to say we’d bank on supporting the Switch 2.”
Fans eager to catch a glimpse of Nintendo’s next big thing should mark their calendars for an early April viewing. The Nintendo Direct presentation for the Switch 2 is scheduled for Wednesday, the 2nd, broadcasting at 6 am PT, 9 am ET, 2 pm BST, and 3 pm CEST.
As for when the Nintendo Switch 2 will hit the shelves, you’ll have to hang tight until 2025 for its worldwide release. The exact launch date still remains a mystery.
