Treyarch has unveiled their latest Zombies map for Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, known as “Shattered Veil.” Gamers are in for a treat because they’ll be able to dive into this new content a bit earlier than anticipated. Initially, the Season 3 content update was slated for release in late March but was postponed to April 3. However, Activision has now decided to make it available a day earlier, on April 2, for both Black Ops 6 multiplayer and Zombies modes. Those eagerly awaiting Verdansk’s return in Call of Duty: Warzone will still need to hang tight until April 3.
The Dark Aether storyline that forms the backbone of Black Ops 6’s Zombies mode continues to unfold. The team’s journey brings them to an eerie, old mansion nestled in the wooded hills of West Virginia, close to Liberty Falls. This location is evocatively tied to the Liberty Falls cinematic. In this setting, players will encounter innovative weapons like microwave traps to obliterate zombies and a Dark Aether Field Generator that can eradicate undead foes using dark aether energy. But beware; these traps can be as perilous to players as they are to zombies.
This mansion, featuring a full-sized T-Rex skeleton, is only the beginning of what’s in store for Black Ops 6 Zombies in Season 3. New adversaries such as the Elder Disciple roam the expansive mansion grounds, becoming more powerful and reinforcing nearby gnarly ghouls. These spectral forces not only spawn more zombies, but they also upgrade them to formidable foes like Doppelghasts.
In addition to these challenges, there’s a fresh wave of toxic zombies making their entrance in Season 3. Shrouded in fog, these skeletal, greenish creatures sprint towards players before exploding and leaving harmful acid puddles in their wake.
For fans of perks, the well-loved Double Tap perk-a-cola makes a comeback. This quick-shooting feature is available on the Shattered Veil map and other Black Ops 6 Zombies maps, via the Der Wunderfizz machine. Players can enhance this perk with augments like Double Jeopardy, Double Impact, and Double Standard among others.
Season 3 also introduces two new wonder weapons. The Ray Gun Mark II is a fresh twist on the classic, now offering a three-round burst. It comes with variants that include smoldering bullet patterns, bludgeoning attachments, and a marksman mode that can trigger area effects. Then there’s the Wunderwaffe DG-2, known for chain lightning attacks, now with the ability to potentially stun a group of zombies for extra damage.
Additionally, players will see three new Gobblegums added to the mix. These can be equipped for strategic boosts during intense horde battles. Tactical Diffusion, Support Group, and Die Pitched each offer unique benefits and challenges, adding spice to the gameplay.
Don’t forget the Death Machine scorestreak, which can be crafted with 1750 salvage within the Zombies mode, adding another powerful tool to your arsenal.
Looking ahead, enthusiasts eager to uncover the depths of the Dark Aether storyline via Zombies will want to stay tuned for the MidSeason refresh of Season 3. This update promises to introduce a Directed Mode for Shattered Veil, along with a time-limited Team Cranked mode and a new Frost Blast field upgrade.
Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 is now widely available across Xbox, PlayStation, and PC platforms via Steam, Battle.net, the Microsoft Store, and the Xbox app. For those keen to try out the game, including its Zombies content, a free trial will kick off with Season 2 on April 2 at 9 AM PT on all platforms. Meanwhile, PC and Xbox players with an Xbox Game Pass subscription can dive into the action immediately.
