Warner Bros, one of the big players in entertainment, has reportedly chosen to scrap an expansion for the popular game Hogwarts Legacy.
According to Bloomberg, this expansion was supposed to launch alongside a planned Definitive Edition of the Harry Potter-themed action RPG, promising new storylines. However, the project has been halted because the amount of extra content didn’t seem substantial enough to warrant the price that was being considered. The expansion was under the development umbrella of Avalanche Software, the original creators of the game, in partnership with Rocksteady. Interestingly, Avalanche is said to be working on a sequel to Hogwarts Legacy as well.
Unfortunately, Rocksteady recently faced some tough times as it announced layoffs following its decision to end support for the upcoming Suicide Squad Kill the Justice League slated for 2024 release.
Warner Bros has been having a rough patch lately, acknowledging last year that its gaming division was not performing as expected. In that same year, they decided to write off a whopping $200 million for Suicide Squad Kill the Justice League. Adding to its troubles, Warner Bros has closed down three of its studios, including Monolith Productions, and its long-time leader, David Haddad, has recently stepped down.
