It seems there’s a buzz in Hollywood about a movie adaptation of the newly-released game, Split Fiction. According to Variety, Story Kitchen is in charge of assembling the team—everything from casting actors to bringing on writers and a director. This studio is gaining a reputation for adapting popular games into movies; their portfolio includes the game It Takes Two, which Amazon is currently developing, as well as adaptations for ToeJam & Earl, Slime Rancher, and Vampire Survivors.
There’s no shortage of interest, with top film studios in Hollywood reportedly clamoring for the project.
Split Fiction itself made waves when it debuted in March, racking up an impressive one million copies sold in just two days and reaching a two-million milestone by the end of its first week. Hazelight, the game’s developer, couldn’t contain their excitement. “Holy crap, we’re blown away! Simply amazing,” they celebrated on Bluesky after crossing that second benchmark. “Thank you to all of our new and old fans – we love how excited you are for our game.”
As for It Takes Two, that film already boasts some serious star power with Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson involved, and it’s in capable hands script-wise with Pat Casey and Josh Miller, the duo behind Sonic the Hedgehog, crafting the screenplay.
