Last week, Sony stirred up quite a buzz by revealing a PS5 remaster of Days Gone. However, there’s a little hiccup for those who happen to own it through PS Plus.
At some point, although I can’t pinpoint exactly when—Sony dishes out free games every month with PS Plus—Days Gone made its appearance as a monthly game giveaway. So, if you snagged it back then, it’s sitting snug in your library now. Just the other day, when Sony dropped the news of the upcoming remaster, I’m betting you were just as thrilled as I was. Especially enticing is the upgrade offer for PS4 owners—you only need to shell out $10. Sounds great, right? Well, there’s a catch: the deal is only for folks who purchased a physical or digital copy, leaving those who got it via PS Plus in the lurch.
This little tidbit was tucked away in the fine print of a Bend Studio post about the $10 upgrade, noting that “PS4 game redemptions via PlayStation Plus are not eligible for upgrade.” It’s puzzling, really. I reckon quite a few players would willingly pay the $10 for such an upgrade. Maybe Sony’s banking on more people opting to buy the remaster outright to maximize profits.
Days Gone originally hit PS4 consoles back in 2019. The reviews from critics were pretty mixed, though it seemed to fare decently in sales. Despite that, there hasn’t been any buzz about a sequel, and Bend Studio made it pretty clear last year that we shouldn’t hold our breath for one. A movie adaptation got announced in 2022, but with scant updates since, this remaster might be our last hurrah with Days Gone.
Mark your calendars, folks! Days Gone Remastered is slated for release on April 25 on PS5 and PC.
