The indie gaming scene is buzzing with excitement as Pantaloon, known for its popular newsletter, has introduced a fresh publishing label. This new venture boasts two intriguing titles: the narrative-driven “Sub-Verge” and the unique Solitaire-inspired “Occlude.” Previously, Pantaloon served primarily as a newsletter and a valuable resource for indie game developers, amassing a dedicated audience of nearly 30,000 subscribers.
In discussing this new direction, founder Jamin Smith candidly remarked, “The world probably doesn’t need another indie publisher. However, we’re driven by a different ethos. With our established platform, we aim to offer terms that provide indie developers with both creative freedom and a sense of security. Our goal is to embrace risk, actively seeking out games that dare to push boundaries or explore untamed genre territories.”
Smith passionately added, “‘A home for misfits’ isn’t just a catchy slogan for us; it’s an invitation to all game creators who feel they don’t align with conventional publishing norms.”
Just a note: I’ve worked with Pantaloon before in a writing and photography capacity, so I’m excited to see where this journey will lead them.
