Nintendo Reveals 2025’s Top-Selling Switch Games

Nintendo has just rolled out the latest update on the top 10 best-selling games for the Nintendo Switch. Known for its versatility as both a home console and a portable device, the Switch has skyrocketed in popularity, solidifying its place among the best-selling gaming consoles ever. This phenomenal success is largely driven by Nintendo’s impressive collection of standout games.

The Switch’s library features an impressive array of titles, many of which rank among the highest-rated games in history. Subscribers to the Switch Online service also gain access to beloved classic Nintendo games, enhancing the console’s appeal. With a vast number of consoles in the hands of gamers, Nintendo regularly updates its list of the best-sellers every few months, showcasing enduring fan-favorite titles.

As of the most recent update, the lineup of top-selling games hasn’t shifted in their rankings, though the numbers have climbed. Leading the pack is Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, which remains unmatched with its astounding 67.35 million copies sold. It’s trailed by Animal Crossing: New Horizons with 47.44 million in sales, and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, which follows with 35.88 million units sold. The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Super Mario Odyssey have also performed exceptionally well, racking up 32.62 million and 29.04 million sales, respectively. Pokémon Sword and Shield and Pokémon Scarlet and Violet have sold 26.60 million and 26.38 million copies, with lively speculation that the latter might soon surpass its predecessor. Rounding out the top 10 are The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, Super Mario Party, and New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe, each adding to their totals since the last count.

Whether Nintendo will keep this list updated once the anticipated Switch 2 hits the shelves is a question that remains unanswered. However, it’s expected that future releases may shake things up. Considering the momentum, it wouldn’t be far-fetched to see Pokémon Scarlet and Violet eventually overtaking Sword and Shield, despite the latter receiving higher critical acclaim. Likewise, Super Mario Party Jamboree, as the swiftest seller in its series, might just edge out New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe in due time.

There are still significant titles queued up in the Switch’s future lineup. Nintendo has recently confirmed that fans can look forward to the releases of Metroid Prime 4: Beyond, Pokémon Legends: Z-A, and Xenoblade Chronicles X: Definitive Edition in 2025. While making it to the top 10 might be a stretch at this late stage in the Switch’s lifecycle, especially with rumors of new editions accompanying the Switch 2, it’s certainly exciting to watch how these games will perform.
