Helldivers 2 players may not have received the massive update some were anticipating this week, but their latest mission certainly amps up the stakes in the Galactic War. If you’re tired of watching the purple Meridian death ball wreak havoc on planets, you now have a shot to put a stop to it.
This destructive force has already swallowed three worlds—Moradesh, Angel’s Venture, and most recently, Ivis. Some players are either grieving these losses or, in the case of others, just growing weary of the death ball narrative that’s beginning to grind on the dedicated divers. It’s about time to halt its advance toward Super Earth.
The latest major order comes hot on the heels of a victory on Wezen, which allowed divers to construct an Exosuit Support Bay at their Democracy Space Station. This facility conveniently slashes exosuit stratagem cooldowns by 35% for all players.
According to “Center of Science astrophysicists” on Fenrir III, they’re close to kicking off the third and final phase of a plan to put the Meridian Singularity to rest. However, delving further into the tricky subject of Dark Energy manipulation requires a hefty amount of E-710 for experimentation.
High Command has now sanctioned a second tightly controlled expedition into the Gloom to advance technology enough to finally neutralize the Meridian Wormhole. If there’s any surplus E-710, it might be handed over to mercantile interests to promote wider prosperity.
To free planet Nivel 43 and grab the E-710 needed to stop the death ball, divers must once again face the “Gloom-specific terminid strains” they encountered previously in the fog. Their rallying cry: bring on the big and bad bugs.
The community seems pretty pumped about diving back into the fog. One excited post on the game’s subreddit boasted, “THERES ANOTHER GLOOM EXPEDITION,” prompting a flurry of comments from players ready to crush more terminids. It looks like they’ve had enough of battling automatons and illuminates lately, but their enthusiasm for this expedition is infectious.
