John Gonzalez, famously known for his role as the lead writer of Fallout: New Vegas, is making a return to Obsidian.
In an update shared on LinkedIn, Gonzalez announced his comeback to the studio, although he clarified that he won’t be working on Fallout: New Vegas 2. Gonzalez has a rich history with Obsidian, having originally joined them from 2008 to 2011. Before that, he spent over two years at Ubisoft in Shanghai making his mark in the gaming industry.
After his initial tenure at Obsidian, Gonzalez’s journey led him to Warner Bros’ Monolith Productions. There, he dedicated two and a half years as the lead narrative designer on Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor. His career continued with a move to Guerrilla Games in the Netherlands, where he played a pivotal role as the narrative director for Horizon: Zero Dawn. Following that, he spent nearly three years at Smilegate’s Barcelona studio, further enriching his professional portfolio.
Apart from his accomplishments in game development, Gonzalez is also venturing into literature. He’s set to release a novel titled God Mode: Single Player, which is anticipated to hit the shelves in 2025.
