Playground Games, alongside Turn 10 Studios, has some thrilling news for racing enthusiasts: Forza Horizon 5 is set to receive one of its most significant updates yet, introducing the Horizon Realms expansion this April. With the new update, they’ve also unveiled when PlayStation 5 gamers can expect to dive into the racing extravaganza at the Horizon Festival.
### When is the Forza Horizon 5 PS5 release date?
Mark your calendars! Forza Horizon 5 is slated to hit PS5 consoles on April 25. Players have the option to choose from three editions: Standard, Deluxe, and Premium, all available for preorder on the PlayStation Store right now. Feast your eyes on the trailer to catch a sneak peek of April’s exciting Horizon Realms update.
The Standard Edition, priced at $59.99, includes just the base game. But if you’re a car aficionado looking for more, the Deluxe Edition might be your pick at $79.99, which packs in the Car Pass. For the ultimate Forza experience, the Premium Edition at $99.99 bundles the base game, Car Pass, Welcome Pack, VIP Membership, Hot Wheels expansion, Rally Adventure expansion, and offers early access starting April 25. Meanwhile, Standard and Deluxe Edition players will gain entry to the game on April 28.
On the PS5, Forza Horizon 5 will come with two distinct graphics modes. Performance mode is aimed at achieving a smooth 60 frames per second (fps), whereas Quality mode drops to 30 fps but compensates with enhanced visuals. Owners of the PS5 Pro can enjoy a boost in visual fidelity in performance mode, and quality mode will feature ray-traced car reflections during races and in free roam.
The announcement of Forza Horizon 5 making its way to PS5 came about a month ago. While seeing Xbox “exclusives” jump to PlayStation is becoming more common, this move is particularly significant given it’s one of Microsoft’s flagship franchises.
Panic Button, in collaboration with Turn 10 Studios and Playground Games, is the mastermind behind the PS5 adaptation of Forza Horizon 5. A standout feature is its cross-play capability, seamlessly allowing racers from different platforms to compete head-to-head.
