Industry veteran Dino Patti is making waves with his latest move to reacquire Jumpship from Thunderful. According to a report from GI.biz, Patti, known for his contributions to Playdead, is gearing up to revitalize the studio, steering it onto a fresh path. He first established Jumpship alongside Chris Olsen in 2017, and the studio rolled out its first game, Somerville, in 2022.
Last year marked a significant transition when Thunderful, a European gaming company, took over Jumpship. Now, Patti’s reacquisition signals exciting changes ahead. In addition to reclaiming Jumpship, Patti has also invested in Sad Owl Studios, the creatives behind Viewfinder. However, no financial details have been disclosed for either of these deals.
In his own words, Patti remarked, “I can’t reveal everything just yet, but it’s clear to me that the current investment and publishing frameworks are outdated. There’s a real need for a revamp to better support brilliant game developers and, ultimately, the players who enjoy these games.”
He continued, “Jumpship has always championed emotional depth, captivating narratives, and cutting-edge innovation in gaming. My aim is to chart a bold new course for the company without losing sight of those core values.”
Patti emphasizes that this move is not merely about business; it’s a rekindling of the passion and vision that fueled Jumpship’s inception. His intention is to elevate the studio to new heights, keeping its foundational spirit alive while exploring new horizons.
