CD Projekt RED recently released update 2.21 for Cyberpunk 2077, aimed at enhancing the experience on all current-generation platforms. This latest patch brings various fixes and improvements, notably resolving a pesky issue in the “Run This Town” quest where players struggled to deactivate the Aguilar imprint.
### Update 2.21 Patch Notes (January 23, 2025)
Here’s a detailed look at what’s included in the patch:
#### Photo Mode Enhancements
Now, whether V is soaring through the air or submerged underwater, you can summon Nibbles and Adam Smasher. The update also fixes the Facial Expression option for Adam Smasher and resolves the disappearance of his glowing chest cyberware.
Players using Johnny’s Alternate Appearance were facing problems where both spawning options would default to the alternate look—this is now fixed. Additionally, characters spawned mid-air or in water will no longer glitch to the ground, and they will also appear in saved presets and backgrounds correctly.
Other enhancements include proper saving of V’s rotation and position, solving issues with camera movement, and refining the SmartFrame visibility when accessed by V. The patch addresses multiple UI inconsistencies and ensures smoother interactions in Photo Mode.
#### Vehicle Color Customization
The update corrects several texture and color mismatches in vehicles using CrystalCoat. Plus, it rectifies missing descriptions in the Autofixer tutorial post-contract completion and polishes minor UI inconsistencies in customization menus.
#### Character Creation Tweaks
Randomizer settings in Character Creation will maintain their status when moving to attribute customization. Issues like the unavailability of piercing color options and minor technical glitches in appearance settings have been addressed to refine the creation experience.
#### Miscellaneous Fixes
In “Run This Town,” the problem of being unable to turn off the Aguilar imprint after meeting Bennett has been sorted out. The update also tackles instances where multiple Johnny depictions occurred during quests, ensures he appears as a passenger more consistently, and enhances the behavior of NPCs and vehicles in different Night City events. Furthermore, it fixes issues with interactability of vendors and missing voiceovers on TV news channels, while also correcting the Quadra Turbo-R V-Tech’s description. The missing update pop-up in the main menu is also now included.
#### Console-Specific Adjustments
On Xbox, blank screenshot issues in the Gallery when HDR10 was enabled have been fixed. Added notifications for screenshot access limitations due to privacy settings, and any deletions made outside the Gallery UI on Xbox will reflect accurately. Notably, the default Graphics Mode on Xbox Series S has been adjusted from Quality to Performance.
#### PC-Specific Improvements
Support for DLSS 4 with Multi Frame Generation is introduced for GeForce RTX 50 Series graphics cards, promising up to three times the frames per second by leveraging AI. Enhancements include reduced memory usage and new DLSS Ray Reconstruction models, bringing more stability and detail in motion. Additionally, artifacts and smudging concerns with DLSS Ray Reconstruction have been fixed, ensuring better visual experience. The Frame Generation setting now resets correctly after turning off Resolution Scaling.
These updates reflect CD Projekt RED’s commitment to continuously polishing Cyberpunk 2077, ensuring a more seamless and engaging experience for all players.
