Elden Ring fans probably know Yui as the modder behind the seamless co-op feature that’s become a favorite, and now they’re turning their attention to Dark Souls 3.
FromSoftware games are known for their unique approach to online multiplayer. They seem to design these features as a way to slightly ease the punishing difficulty. After all, what’s better than one lone hero rolling and dodging through challenges? Two heroes doing just that! However, teaming up with friends in the game can be a bit of a hassle. Enter Yui, the modder who’s not only enhanced Elden Ring with a seamless co-op mod but has also created one for Armored Core 6: Fires of Rubicon. Now, they’re crafting a similar experience for Dark Souls 3.
Yui recently shared a video showcasing this new mod in action. They played through Lothric Castle with a friend—heads up, spoilers if you haven’t ventured there yet but keep telling yourself you will! The video details how the mod “removes all multiplayer boundaries, allowing connections to last even after characters die. Players can journey with friends from the tutorial to the end, enjoying synchronized progress without having to constantly resummon allies or face interruptions. Optional invasions are enabled by default, and you can tweak the difficulty scaling of enemies according to your preferences.” It truly seems like the kind of mod every fan dreams of!
Currently, there’s no set release date for this co-op mod, so patience is key. Meanwhile, there’s good news for Elden Ring enthusiasts: a new installment called Nightreign is expected to drop this year. This iteration features built-in seamless co-op, although you’ll need to see how it holds up since it’s designed as a boss-focused roguelite.
