Atomic Heart Unveils New Character for DLC 3 Release

Developer Mundfish has just shared some exciting updates about Atomic Heart’s upcoming third DLC, introducing a fresh character named Nastya. When Atomic Heart launched back in February 2023, the reception was mixed, but for its fans, the slow release of the promised four DLCs has been something to look forward to. Set in a post-apocalyptic Russia that’s rich with alternate history, this first-person shooter continues to engage its audience.

The journey of Atomic Heart’s DLCs began with “Annihilation Instinct,” which took players to events immediately following the conclusion of the main storyline. This expansion focused on NORA, the artificial intelligence that helps P-3 with inventory management and weapon upgrades. The second DLC revisited the surreal realm of Limbo, a trippy blend of P-3 and his wife Ekaterina’s subconscious minds, taking players into a more psychedelic experience.

Shifting gears from the dreamlike Limbo, the third DLC is set to dive back into reality. Slated for release on January 28, 2025, “Enchantment Under the Sea” has been in the spotlight thanks to teasers from Mundfish. The developers have kept fans on their toes with sneak peeks, including a gameplay trailer and a new character reveal—Nastya, a redhead with glasses whose determined expression suggests she’s more than ready to take on Atomic Heart’s tumultuous world.

For those eager to join P-3 once more, the trailer offers a familiar voice-over, hinting at his return as the protagonist. Characters like Granny Zina, or Zinaida Muravyova, are making a comeback, with a glimpse of P-3’s new glove—an upgrade over Charles—that grants two intriguing new abilities: Blaze, which unleashes fiery AOE attacks, and Whip, a versatile grappling hook also effective as a weapon. Moreover, Mundfish has unveiled two new weapons that will be available to season pass holders: the electrified Thunderclap hammer and the customizable KM-4 Kuzmich double-barrel shotgun.

In keeping with the DLC’s theme, players can expect fresh adversaries to challenge them underwater at the Neptune Research Center. Get ready to face off against coral mutants and a formidable foe known as MOR-4Y, possibly a new boss encounter. Players will also have the chance to revisit familiar settings from the main game, such as Chelomey, now under robot rule, to see how things have evolved.
