Objective: Confront Godzilla and survive!
These days, my feelings about Fortnite are quite mixed. I remember its early days when it was a whirlwind of excitement—no bots then, just a mix of players clashing in a chaotic and thrilling way. Back then, you could feel the unpredictability and humor with every win, loss, and daring escape. That unpredictability has vanished, replaced by matches filled with bots that offer little challenge, serving themselves up like practice targets. The mystique and subtle storytelling of those early days seem far behind us, replaced with standard MMORPG quests and way too many crossover characters. It feels like Fortnite is losing its unique charm, morphing into a commercial blend straight out of a Ready Player One dystopia.
However, even with its changes, Fortnite still draws me back. The tactile experience of moving through the game—running, sliding, and leaping over the landscape—remains thrilling. After a long day, I often find myself logging in, knocking out a few quick quests, and immersing myself in its world for a while. And when Fortnite surprises us with grand spectacles, it’s hard to resist. Right now, there’s the thrill of possibly encountering Godzilla, the mighty king of monsters, in your match. I caught a glimpse of gameplay as Godzilla, and it’s jaw-dropping—the scale and destructive power are spot-on. This weekend, I plan to dive into Fortnite more than ever, hoping to feel the adrenaline of being a tiny player outrunning something colossal and terrifying. So, if you’re playing Fortnite this weekend and happen to become Godzilla, and you see me sprinting below, consider sparing me—I mean no harm! – Carolyn Petit
