Acer has stepped up its game with the debut of six innovative models in the Radeon RX 9070 series, showcasing both standard and overclocked versions that boast boost clocks reaching up to an impressive 3.1 GHz.
In unveiling the new BiFrost and Nitro editions of the Radeon RX 9070 and RX 9070 XT, Acer, a partner of AMD, has expanded its presence in the competitive graphics card market. While Acer has somewhat flown under the radar in terms of AMD partnerships, this launch of four RDNA 4 GPUs signifies a meaningful stride, offering three distinct models for both the RX 9070 XT and RX 9070 variants.
Let’s dive into the specifics. Acer’s lineup is headlined by the Nitro and BiFrost editions for both the Radeon RX 9070 XT and RX 9070 series. The BiFrost models are particularly impressive with their stylish look and efficient cooling systems, making them stand out in terms of design and performance. Meanwhile, the Nitro series targets a more mainstream audience without compromising on its technical prowess.
Taking a closer look at the BiFrost editions, you’ll find the Acer BiFrost Radeon RX 9070 XT OC 16 GB model, which combines aesthetic appeal with functionality. It features a three-fan cooling system highlighted by a trendy shroud and silver-ish accents around the central fan. These FrostBlade 4.0 fans employ a counter-spin design to help maximize heat dispersion. Measuring approximately 295 mm and occupying a thickness of 2.5 slots, this card is factory-overclocked to reach speeds up to 3.1 GHz, promising smooth and high-level gaming experiences.
The BiFrost Radeon RX 9070 OC 16 GB follows a similar design path but opts for two 8-pin power connectors instead of three found in the XT variant. Although both models sport a 340W power rating, the RX 9070 inherently requires less power. With existing power configurations via two 8-pin connectors and the PCI-E x16 slot, it can comfortably meet the power demands of the RX 9070, though it doesn’t quite offer the same overclocking headroom as its XT counterpart.
Switching gears to the Nitro lineup, Acer presents both overclocked (OC) and standard models for each RX 9070 version. The Nitro Radeon RX 9070 XT OC is equipped with a triple-fan setup akin to the BiFrost model and maxes out at the same 3.1 GHz boost clock. It’s similarly sized at 2.5 slots and draws power through three 8-pin connectors, maintaining a TDP of 340W. In contrast, the non-OC Nitro RX 9070 XT version uses all three power connectors while operating at a TDP of 304W, capping boosts at 2970 MHz and reaching up to 2.4 GHz in game mode.
The Nitro series continues with the RX 9070 OC and the standard RX 9070 16 GB. The OC version clocks up to 2.7 GHz, whereas the non-OC variant reaches 2.52 GHz. Power consumption is a bit more modest here, with the OC card at 245W and the non-OC at 220W, yet both share the same design.
Although Acer hasn’t spilled all the beans regarding the pricing details, it has announced that the Nitro Radeon RX 9070 XT OC 16 GB will hit the shelves at an eye-watering $829.99. Expectations are for the BiFrost edition to be priced even higher. While the availability of the entire lineup remains under wraps, the Nitro RX 9070 XT OC is set to make its debut in the US market in April.
