A fresh mod for Stardew Valley has landed, giving players a whole new village to explore. Named Sunberry Village, this mod doesn’t just bring a quaint new town; it also adds 17 NPCs, a medley of shops, mines, and even some new monsters to keep things interesting. The creators of this mod have hinted at future updates, suggesting that even more characters, areas, and items might be on the way. Despite regular updates from the official developers, the modding community is not slowing down, continually expanding this beloved 2016 farming sim.
Stardew Valley’s popularity with modders isn’t due to any neglect from its original developers. In fact, Eric Barone, also known as ConcernedApe, has shown remarkable dedication by patching the game well into 2025, adding new festivals, locations, and items, all while juggling another promising project, The Haunted Chocolatier. But it seems Barone isn’t the only one pouring energy into the game, as demonstrated by the latest significant addition from the fan community.
Introduced on Nexus Mods on March 15, 2025, the Sunberry Village expansion enhances the game by adding a new hamlet south of Pelican Town. This mod, crafted by skellady, sophiesalacia, and The Sunberry Team, enriches the game with over 15 fresh NPCs, more than 80 events, and an assortment of new crops and items. It’s not the only extensive modification gaining traction lately; a Baldur’s Gate-themed mod also brought a wealth of new features earlier this month.
With Sunberry Village, players can now enjoy visits to a cozy cat café, peruse a chic clothing store, browse a vibrant flower shop, get tools crafted by a new blacksmith, and unwind at a bustling inn. For the adventure seekers, the mod includes new mines and monsters to battle. The creators aren’t finished yet—they promise more characters will be introduced soon, and potential expansions to areas and available items aren’t off the table. ConcernedApe has often expressed a long-term vision for Stardew Valley, saying he could be working on it 50 years from now. Clearly, this vision is shared by the dedicated modding community.
Even with these fan-driven expansions, the official content isn’t disappearing. Although the past few updates have mainly focused on improving performance post the major 1.6 update, more fresh content could be on the horizon. ConcernedApe’s ongoing development of Haunted Chocolatier might affect the pace of official updates, but it hasn’t stopped him from adding to Stardew Valley previously. Should official updates slow down, players won’t be at a loss for new content thanks to the passionate and endlessly creative fanbase.
Stardew Valley continues to thrive as a farm sim thanks to both its loyal developers and an enthusiastic modding community. Whether you’re running your farm, making friends, or exploring the vibrant universe crafted by both Barone and innovative fans, there’s no shortage of new adventures to be had.
