Prominent console creator Ayaneo has unveiled its newest top-tier device, the Ayaneo 3. Building on the foundation set by its predecessor, this new model maintains a familiar design and button configuration but boasts several hardware upgrades.
On their official blog, Ayaneo revealed that you can snag the Ayaneo 3 equipped with either the AMD Ryzen 7 8840U processor or the more robust AMD Ryzen AI 9 HX 370. It’s designed with a seven-inch high-refresh LCD or OLED HDR screen to provide the ultimate immersive experience. They’ve also added a couple of buttons on the back, offering users enhanced control options.
Despite the buzz around the announcement, Ayaneo has yet to share additional specifics about the Ayaneo 3. Currently, details like RAM, storage, and price remain under wraps, so stay tuned for more updates. However, looking at the Ayaneo 2, which features options of 16GB or 32GB of RAM and storage capacities ranging from 512GB up to 2TB, priced between $1,099 and $1,549 for the exclusive B.Duck edition, we can speculate similar configurations might be available for the Ayaneo 3, albeit at a slightly higher cost.
This new release is noteworthy as it becomes one of the pioneering handheld consoles featuring the AMD Ryzen AI 9 HX 370. While many games out there might not yet leverage the NPU found in the HX 370 chip, the additional four cores, advanced Zen 5 architecture, and integrated AMD Radeon 890M GPU promise greater power compared to the Ryzen 7 8840U processor. This advancement positions the Ayaneo 3 as a powerhouse, potentially surpassing some of the leading handheld gaming PCs driven by the Ryzen Z1 Extreme.
The Ayaneo 3 is set to compete in a crowded field brimming with excellent alternatives. As of now, expectations are high for the ROG Ally 2, MSI Claw 8 AI+, and Lenovo Legion Go Gen Two to hit the scene by late this year or early 2025. What will be interesting to watch is how the Ayaneo 3 stands out amidst this competition and the kind of gaming experience it ultimately delivers to fans of handheld consoles.
