Jagex, the company behind the iconic RuneScape franchise, has appointed Jon Bellamy as its new CEO. Jon steps into the role following Phil Mansell, who has served as the company’s chief executive since 2017. Bellamy’s journey with Jagex isn’t new; he was part of the team’s strategy and mergers & acquisitions division from 2015 to 2018. After his initial stint at Jagex, he ventured into roles at London Venture Partners and Huuuge Games, where he dedicated almost five years, ultimately as Chief Commercial Officer.
Adding to his impressive track record, Bellamy has served as an advisor for several companies, including Pixion, Kohort, Stealth, Maximillian, and notably CVC, one of Jagex’s owners. Since October 2024, he has also been a board member at Jagex.
“It’s both an honor and a privilege to step into this leadership role at Jagex,” Bellamy expressed. “RuneScape resonates deeply with millions, myself among them. I’m eagerly anticipating the chance to collaborate with the exceptional team, many of whom I’m familiar with through my time on the board. Together, we’ll ensure our games remain top-tier. In the coming days, I plan to huddle with the team, delve into our aspirations for Jagex, and soon share my broader vision with the RuneScape community.”
Reflecting on his tenure, Mansell shared, “After leading RuneScape for 14 remarkable years and serving as Jagex’s CEO for eight, the time feels right to pass the torch to Jon Bellamy. With an outstanding team by my side, we’ve seen immense growth both in terms of the Company and our player base. Jagex has firmly established itself as a pioneer in community-centric gaming. As we usher in this new chapter, I’m confident that Jon will continue our legacy with the same passion and dedication. I’m excited to watch him build upon the solid foundation we’ve laid.”
