When you thought modding couldn’t get any more exciting in The Witcher 3, someone comes up with another fantastic addition. The latest treat for fans is a mod that gives you the opportunity to ride a dragon, reminiscent of the Dragonborn’s adventures in Skyrim after their journey to Solstheim.
This isn’t the first time modders have brought something incredible to The Witcher 3; we’ve seen a variety of mods, like new quests, ships you can explore, and the option to play as Ciri dressed in her Witcher 4 outfit. None of these would have been possible without the ingenious REDkit tools.
The latest mod, titled ‘Herald of the White Frost,’ is crafted by the creator errornoaccess, who is also known for their other imaginative mods. Remember the one where Geralt turns into a centaur horse-man? Yeah, that was them too. And let’s not forget the griffins, fiends, and even White Orchard’s alchemist Tomira as mounts.
This newest addition introduces a custom “dracolizard monster.” To have it as your trusty ride, you’ll first need to win an intense boss battle. Once that’s done, you can take to the skies, riding it just like Skyrim had us doing, albeit usually as a one-time novelty.
Unhcegila, the dragon you can ride, is found in the frosty town during the “Through Time and Space” quest or, if you prefer, you can summon it with a “Mysterious Sapphire Crystal.” This handy item is available at four vanilla merchants, each one listed in the mod’s description.
After defeating Unhcegila, you’ll earn the “Horn of the Frozen Flame.” This item is key to summoning the dragon whenever you please. Equip it like a torch to use it, and if it’s anything like the centaur mod, it gives a little tutorial on the flying controls for your first flight.
So, are you eager to make a dragon your go-to for traveling between monster contracts? Or do you fear Roach might feel sidelined? Share your thoughts with us!
