Arrowhead CEO Shams Jorjani has dropped a hint worth paying attention to if you’re not already on high alert.
Recently, players have spotted some odd events, sparking speculation that these might be signs of significant changes on the horizon. There’s talk of the Meridia black hole making its way ominously towards Super Earth. The timing couldn’t be more perfect, with the game’s one-year anniversary coming up on February 8. A big in-game event would certainly make for an exciting milestone celebration.
Earlier this week, Jorjani shared a message on the game’s Discord server that both intrigued and unsettled the community. He offered praise for the players’ impressive strategic moves against the jet brigade on Menkent and Lesath, stating, “I just wanna give you folks big props for the DSS maneuver you did. Brilliant move. J.O.E.L. is out to get you now.” Not exactly a comforting sentiment.
Understandably, this statement has sparked a flurry of activity on Reddit, where players are eagerly preparing for what they believe could be a major shift in the game’s dynamics. They’ve even joked about how the game master Jorjani hinted at might unleash something massive, akin to Davy Jones letting loose the Kraken.
Amidst the anticipation, some players have adopted a defiant tone, reminiscent of the aggressive spirit from films like Independence Day, with one declaring, “Cry me a river, J.O.E.L. If your jet brigade didn’t want to be destroyed, why did they explode so funny?”
To be fair, the game’s latest update has armed Helldivers 2 players with some serious tools, including shovels, a portable hellbomb, and other powerful gear. So, whatever J.O.E.L. has in store, they might just have the means to hold their ground and give as good as they get.
